FRENCH COMPOSER, VIOLIN VIRTUOSO AND A MUSICAL PEACE MAKER
Jean-Marie Leclair was born 325 years ago in Lyon. He became the most important French composer in the first half of the 18th century, he was the founder of the French Violin School and the ‘peace maker’ between de French and Italian style (Les Goûts Réunis) . In the NTR ZaterdagMatinee on September 17th, at 14.15 hrs. in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam Leclairs Violinconcerto op.7 nr.5 will be performed by Le Concert de la Loge, conducted by Julien Chauvin who will also play the baroque violin. On the programme also aria’s from Leclairs first opera Scylla et Glaucus and Les saisons amusantes by Nicolas Chédeville, who was a great admirer of Antonio Vivaldi. Several compositions by Antonio Vivaldi will be performed.
