Preparatory courses

An official certification to validate your French-language skills
DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) and DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) are managed and delivered by the French Ministry of Education. These diplomas assessing your level in French are internationally recognised and have lifetime validity.

The Alliance Française Amsterdam is the only official examination centre for the DELF & DALF diplomas in Amsterdam. You may take the DELF or DALF exam twice a year.

Why take these exams?

With the DELF/DALF you will:
- receive an official certificate which attests your language skills
- be able to measure your progress in French and therefore enhance it
- be able to prove your language skills for professional, personal and educational objectives
- increase your chances on the labour market (internships, recruitment, promotion, mobility)

What is being assessed?

There are six independent diplomas, which correspond to the six levels of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). At each level, the 4 following skills are assessed: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

What if you do not pass the exam?

In order to pass the DELF/DALF exam, you must get a minimum score of 50/100.
If you score below 50 and wish to resit the DELF/DALF exam, you will have to enroll for a new exam session.

Important information on the DELF-DALF exams:
See the France Education International's website, the organisation in charge of the French official certifications.
Please check the candidates's rights and obligations before your exam session.

Candidates with specific needs:
France Education International follows a procedure to arrange exam sessions for candidates with specific needs. A doctor's note is required outlining what the candidate's needs might be. This note needs to be sent to examens@afamsterdam.nl at least 2 months before the date of the exam. A template of the doctor's note can be found here.
Please see the France Education International's website for more information.
