Laurent Petitmangin est né en 1965 en Lorraine au sein d’une famille de cheminots. Il passe ses vingt premières années à Metz, puis quitte sa ville natale pour poursuivre des études supérieures à Lyon. Il rentre chez Air France, société pour laquelle il travaille encore aujourd’hui. Grand lecteur, il écrit depuis une quinzaine d’années. Ce qu’il faut de nuit, son premier roman est paru en 2020 et a remporté un vif succès en France et à l’international (prix Femina des lycéens). Il a notamment été traduit en néerlandais (De donkerste nacht, ed. [De Bezige Bij](https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/UitgeverijDeBezigeBij?__tn__=-%5dK*F)). Une adaptation cinématographique de ce roman sortira en salle en 2024. Il a par la suite publié Ainsi Berlin.
